Juventus to Win

Reason for tip

Juventus head into this game with a new manager bounce, having won both matches since Igor Tudor was dismissed. The Old Lady put up some impressive underlying numbers in their last win, while Sporting have lost three of their last four European trips.

Juventus 2-1

Reason for tip

Sporting lost 2-1 at Napoli last month and they’re backed to fall to the same scoreline here, with Juve conceding in both wins since sacking Tudor.

Juventus vs Sporting Lisbon Predictions

  • Juventus have won back-to-back games since sacking Igor Tudor
  • Juve impressed in a win at Cremonese at the weekend
  • Sporting have lost three of their previous four Champions League trips

Spalletti’s side are up and running

Juventus won their opening game under new boss Luciano Spalletti, with the Turin side putting in an impressive display in Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Cremonese.

Juve were dominant in terms of Expected Goals, seeing off their high-flying opponents 2.03 to 0.54 in that regard. They took the lead after just two minutes, went on to create a total of five big chances, while they were comfortably clear before Jamie Vardy scored a consolation goal.

Juve had won 3-1 at Udinese in midweek, which was their first outing since sacking manager Igor Tudor. The Old Lady have put up some decent underlying numbers despite their early struggles, but there’s little doubt they’ve made an upgrade in the dugout.

Spalletti took Napoli to the title in his last club job. He can bring more early success to Turin, as Juve face a Sporting side that lost 2-1 in Naples in their first European trip of the campaign. Sporting have now lost three of their previous four Champions League trips, so back the hosts to claim a key three points.
