KPV Kokkola vs VPS Vaasa Predictions

With the end of the season in Finland still pretty far away, there is plenty of time for teams to change the course of their season and achieve the goals they set themselves before a ball was kicked. However, this weekend sees two sides come face to face who are certainly not accomplishing their targets as the bottom two sides, KPV Kokkola and VPS Vaasa, square off at Kokkolan Keskuskenttä.

The hosts will have been looking forward to this season having finally regained their spot in Finland’s top division, however those hopes and dreams were quickly dented as the action got underway and after 13 fixtures, they find themselves firmly at the bottom of the table. With just seven points to their name this season, it should come as no surprise to learn that they find themselves towards the bottom of most of the tables in terms of form, goals scored and goals conceded, however things are not as bleak as they might seem as, although they are not able to get the result, they have at least scored in six of their past seven matches.

Making the trip to Kokkolan Keskuskenttä is a VPS Vaasa side who also have plenty of troubles of their own as they are joint on points with their hosts with seven points from their 13 outings to date. Like their hosts they have little to shout home about and despite reasonably optimistic hopes of a successful campaign, they are firmly in a relegation battle. However, they are undefeated in the recent head to head between these two sides so will fully be expecting to come out on top on Saturday.

This fixture is pretty much the definition of a relegation six-pointer and the importance of a win for both sides means that we think that they will both come out on the attack. The hosts have been much better in front of goal of late but still have the worst defensive record in the division, and given that 77% of VPS Vaasa’s matches have finished with both teams scoring, we think backing both teams to find the back of the net again is the way to go.
