KR vs Stjarnan Betting Tips & Predictions

KR began the 2016 season in terrific fashion when they managed to win the Icelandic League Cup with a 2-0 win over Reykjavik rivals Vikingur in the final towards the end of April.

This made it five victories in a row for KR, but they couldn’t make it six in a row when the Urvalsdeild season kicked off at the beginning of May. They were their opening game 0-0 against their League Cup victims Vikingur, and followed it up with a 2-2 draw to Throttur Reykjavik.

The hosts did manage to get their first league win of the season last Thursday though with a 1-0 win over FH, putting them 6th in the table at this early stage of the season.

Stjarnan didn’t have a particularly good League Cup campaign, although an 8-0 thrashing of Huginn is sure to remain in the memory of the players for a while. However, the additional rest from an early cup exit seems to have benefitted them greatly. They have won all three of their opening Urvalsdeild matches, with a 2-0 win over Fylkir being followed with a 2-1 win at Vikingur.

Last week was the real talking point though as they hammered Throttut 6-0 to stake their claim at the top of the Urvalsdeild table. They are two points ahead of their nearest rivals and already have a +9 goal difference.

Stjarnan are in excellent attacking form at the moment, and even on the road they have still managed to net eight goals in their four games this calendar year. KR have conceded 15 in their ten home games this year, but they have bolstered the back line recently with a few clean sheets. At the other end they have netted 16 times, including eight in their last four.

Whichever KR defence shows up tomorrow I still think we can expect goals. Seven of KR’s last ten home games have seen Over 2.5 Goals, and Stjarnan have seen at least three scored in their last three home games. Add this to the confidence gained from the 6-0 thrashing last week and I think odds of 17/20 for Over 2.5 Goals are good, and I’m also backing a 2-2 draw at 14/1.
