Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

At least three goals have been scored in nine of Salernitana’s last 13 games and also in five of Lazio’s last seven Serie A away games. When these two sides shared three goals in Rome earlier this season, the game opened up early on and there were plenty of chances.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Salernitana have scored in two of their last three away games, including two at Cagliari recently. They are fresh off a 2-2 draw with Sassuolo and can perhaps grab a draw with a battling display in Rome. They beat Lazio 2-1 earlier this season, but have the worst defensive record in Italy and will probably concede more than once – as they have done on 10 of 15 away trips this season.

Antonio Candreva To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Antonio Candreva scored in Salernitana’s 2-2 draw with Sassuolo last weekend and has bagged two goals in his last three games against former club Lazio.

Onus on Lazio to show up after derby loss

Lazio have some making up to do after last weekend’s Derby della Capitale defeat to Roma and will be expected to put on a show at home to rock-bottom Salernitana on Friday.

Igor Tudor’s side suffered their second straight Serie A defeat without scoring in last Saturday’s 1-0 loss to the Giallorossi, which has quickly dampened the optimism brought about by Lazio’s Coppa Italia semi-final win over Juventus in his first game in charge.

Goals have been a problem for I Biancoceleste lately, but this clash offers a great opportunity to put that right against Serie A’s leakiest defence.

Salernitana seem to play better when behind

Conceding in sometimes the most naive fashion imaginable has been the one constant through a campaign where Salernitana has put four managers through the wringer.  They did so again in last Friday’s 2-2 home draw with Sassuolo and could easily have been three or four goals down by half-time.

But, led by evergreen midfielder Antonio Candreva, I Granata fought back to claim a point thanks to Giulio Maggiore’s stoppage-time strike. Even so, they still needed another superb save from Benoit Costil to preserve the draw.

Salernitana seem to have played much better when they have got their first couple of catastrophic mistakes out of the way and they are chasing the game. Candreva, who has scored in two of his last three games against the club he graced for many years, capped their stunning fightback in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

That game opened up very early on and should have seen more than just three goals scored. And with Lazio still likely to be without first-choice keeper Ivan Provodel, there should be prospects for Salernitana to score again this week in another match which features three or more goals.
