Leaky Leeds lose again
Despite a spirited showing in the capital, Leeds fell to their fourth defeat in five Premier League assignments at West Ham on Monday evening, when their lax defending once again proved their downfall.
Creating chances of their own has never been a problem for Marcelo Bielsa’s charges, however, only two clubs have shipped more goals this season than Leeds, while only four sides have conceded more attempts per game in the division.
Leeds’ cavalier and all-or-nothing approach to games has also seen them draw fewer fixtures than any other team, though their gung-ho strategy could see them fall on the wrong side of the result again when in-form Chelsea come to town.
Tuchel remains unbeaten
Thomas Tuchel’s impact at Chelsea has been instant, and the Blues have yet to taste defeat under their new German boss, a full 11 games into his tenure.
While goals have been relatively thin on the ground under his instruction, Chelsea have made great strides defensively, and the clean sheet they secured in Monday’s 2-0 win over Everton was their sixth in seven fixtures in all competitions.
Chelsea worth backing
Chelsea will be buoyant following successive wins to nil over Merseyside rivals Liverpool and Everton, and having conceded just one goal in their last 630 minutes of football overall, the robust Blues will arrive at Elland Road with plenty of confidence on Saturday.
Despite their run of four defeats in five league matches, Leeds will still attempt to trade blows with a vastly superior Chelsea outfit this weekend, and that could prove their undoing again.
The Blues have built a serious head of steam following their 11-game unbeaten surge under Tuchel, and they look excellent value to take advantage of their host’s free-wheeling style of play.
With Chelsea’s rearguard looking well-drilled and watertight, a 2-0 correct score prediction is also favoured in what would be the tenth clean sheet of Thomas Tuchel’s reign.
Leeds injuries and team news
Adam Forshaw remains sidelined for Leeds, while Robin Koch, Jamie Shackleton, Pablo Hernandez and Pascal Strujik are all rated as doubtful.
Chelsea injuries and team news
Tammy Abraham is Chelsea’s only slight injury worry, elsewhere, Thomas Tuchel has a strong squad to choose from.
The German coach could choose to shuffle his pack ahead of next week’s crucial Champions League Last 16 second-leg encounter with Atletico Madrid.
