Leicester vs Chelsea Predictions
Leicester managed a somewhat surprising victory on Saturday as they beat Everton away from home in the FA Cup Third Round, extending their unbeaten streak to three matches in all competitions and hopefully for them the start of a run of good form.
It’s safe to say that their Premier League title defence hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far. They have won just two of their last 11 games in the Premier League and have lost five times. This leaves them way down in 15th position, with just six points between them and the first of the drop spots.
At home their form has been noticeably better, but it’s still not exactly pleasant reading for fans of the Foxes. They have won three, drawn two, and lost two of their last seven home league games, and now they have a trio of Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool coming up at the King Power Stadium.
Chelsea’s record equalling winning streak in the Premier League came to an end last Wednesday as Mauricio Pochettino masterminded a 2-0 win at White Hart Lane. Chelsea bounced straight back with a 4-1 demolition of Peterborough in the FA Cup, and they have now won 11 of their last 12 games in all competitions.
Away from home it’s a similar story, with six wins and one defeat in their last seven Premier League away games. They have kept a clean sheet in five of these seven matches, whilst Diego Costa has been the main man at the other end of the pitch. Eight of Costa’s 14 Premier League goals have come on his travels, so I’m backing him to score anytime at 5/6.
Generally Chelsea have been a bit more conservative on the road this season, but it’s no surprise given how successful it’s been. There have been fewer than three goals in six of Chelsea’s last seven away days and with Leicester missing Islam Slimani and RIyad Mahrez due to the African Cup of Nations I can see them struggling to find the net against the defensively sound Chelsea.
This makes odds of 19/20 for Under 2.5 Goals look a good value bet, and I’m going for that along with an efficient 2-0 win for Chelsea at 15/2 for my correct score predictions.
