Ligue 1 champions Lille have been toiling in the opening weeks of their domestic season and Les Dogues could get turned over by early Bundesliga leaders Wolfsburg at Stade Pierre Mauroy.

Those results have left Lille sitting 12^th in the Ligue 1 standings and Les Dogues are showing signs of clear regression following the summer departure of boss Christophe Galtier and several key playing personnel.

And they seem far from prepared and short of the quality required to mix it with Europe’s best in this competition. The visit of Wolfsburg to Stade Pierre Mauroy this Tuesday night represents a very difficult start for the French, and the smart money is on the Germans to win through.

Mark van Bommel’s men finished fourth in Bundesliga last term, but they’re setting the early pace this time around after a perfect four wins from four, including a 1-0 triumph over RB Leipzig on their penultimate outing.
