Reason For Lincoln City vs Blackpool Predictions

  • In the last six matches, Lincoln have scored more goals than all but one team in League 1.
  • Only three teams have scored more home goals than Lincoln in League 1 this term.
  • It’s now more than a month since Blackpool won in League 1. They’ve won none of their last five.

Imps much improved

In less than a month, Lincoln have gone from a side that found it hard to score on a regular basis to one of the highest scoring teams in the division. They’ve notched five against both Ipswich and Bolton and have now scored 14 goals in their last five matches. Their high-scoring win against the Tractor Boys between Christmas and New Year has seemingly given the Imps’ forward line the kickstart it so desperately needed.

Home is certainly where the heart has been in recent times for Lincoln, who’re unbeaten in their last six at Sincil Bank, five of which they’ve won. During that time, they’ve scored an impressive 15 goals, conceding just five and keeping three clean sheets in the process. They’ve not just faced weak sides either, getting the better of both Ipswich and Peterborough in recent home matches. Such form bodes well.

Seasiders on the downslope

For quite some time, Blackpool looked as though they were primed for a serious crack at the top six, though their form has really tailed off in the last month or so, which has left the Seasiders down in 13th position. Fortunately, thanks to the tightness of the mid-table area, they remain only four points shy of the play-off places.

While Lincoln have been banging in the goals of late, Blackpool have started to struggle on that front. Saturday’s visitors have scored only two goals in their last four, while they’ve not scored more than once since the first week in December. They’ve only scored more than once in one of their last eight on the road.

Goals for both?

After recent efforts, Lincoln are easy to fancy, though they do look ever so slightly short in the betting. One angle that does stand out as a viable option is ‘Both Teams to Score’. Lincoln have been excellent offensively of late, scoring 14 goals in their last five matches, while they’ve generally scored goals at home this term, notching 23 in 11 matches. At the other end, they’ve not been too sharp of late, conceding in each of their last seven. Blackpool haven’t won all that often away from home, but they’ve scored on a regular basis in recent times, notching in each of their last four on the road, as well as in seven of their last nine. Both teams have scored in each of their last four travelling matches.

‘Correct Score’ punters can try a 1-1 draw. Lincoln arrive in better form than Blackpool, but the Seasiders are very good at avoiding defeat on the road, drawing eight of their 12 away games this term. Two of their last three have ended 1-1.
