Liverpool to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Only one of the last seven Merseyside has featured three or more goals, while Everton have won just one of the last eight, so a low-scoring Liverpool victory looks a likely outcome on Saturday.

Liverpool 1-0

Reason for tip

Diogo Jota’s solitary strike landed Liverpool the points back in the corresponding fixture last May, and backing another 1-0 home win looks a decent bet. Everton have scored in just one of their last six visits to the Reds’ stronghold and their main aim will be to stop Liverpool scoring, too, this weekend.

Mohamed Salah To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

A moment of magic may be all it takes for Liverpool to claim another victory and Mohamed Salah could be the man to deliver it. Salah scored from the penalty in the last-gasp win at Burnley last Sunday and he followed it up with an expert finish against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday. Salah has four goals in his last six outings against the Toffees.

Liverpool vs Everton Predictions

  • Three of Liverpool’s four Premier League wins this season were by a single goal.
  • Everton have won just one of the last eight Merseyside derbies.
  • Mohamed Salah has four goals in his last six outings against the Toffees.

Reds to edge to more derby delight

The Merseyside derby is rarely flowing in goals and we predict a low-scoring Liverpool victory when they host neighbours Everton on Saturday.

That was the outcome in the corresponding fixture last term, and only one of the last seven meetings has featured three or more goals while one or both sides have failed to score in six of the last seven derbies to add extra weight to backing another tight encounter.

Liverpool had to endure a gruelling scrap with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday and that 3-2 victory could have taken plenty out of red legs. That gives the home side little time to recover, while Everton had had their feet in preparation for this lunchtime showdown.

Everton boss David Moyes will set his side up to frustrate their bitter rivals so a free flowing contest looks highly unlikely.

The Toffee’s last Anfield win came in the aftermath of Covid in 2021, but they have since suffered four straight losses at the venue, failing to score in each.

Moyes’s men look in the best shape they have been in a while, so there is a chance they could improve their fortunes, but Liverpool are so strong at the moment and their never-say-die attitude could grind them to another vital victory.

One goal may be all it takes

Diogo Jota’s solitary strike landed Liverpool the points on a balmy evening back in May and backing another 1-0 home win looks a solid prediction for correct-score purposes.

Everton have scored in just one of their last six visits to the Reds’ stronghold and their main priority will be to stop Liverpool scoring on Saturday.

The home side will dominate possession but they will be faced with breaking down a solid blue, something the Reds have often struggled with.

Chances could be at a premium but the quality in Liverpool’s ranks suggest they will get through at some point and one moment of magic, as has been the case on several occasions this season, could be enough to seal the points on Saturday.

More to come from improving Mo

Mohamed Salah has made a slow start to the campaign by his standards, but last season’s golden boot winner has bagged two goals in a week and there could be more to come from the Egyptian king.

Salah thumped home a last-gasp penalty to land the points against Burnley last Sunday, but he looked back to his clinical best when weaving through the Atletico defence to score Liverpool’s second goal on Wednesday.

Liverpool’s talisman has four goals in his last six appearances and another timely strike for the right-winger is our prediction for this contest.

Another spot-kick can’t be ruled in a contest likely to be as tight as this, and Salah will be the man to step up if required.
