Draw

Reason for tip

Luton have drawn three of their five home Championship games in 2022-23, but all five were very close and could easily have finished in stalemates. Both games between these clubs were also drawn last season.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

A 1-1 draw is forecast because Rovers have scored for goals in four away games this term, albeit three came at Swansea in early August when they were flying. Luton have kept just one home clean sheet, but have only failed to score in three of their 18 home league games in 2022.

Tomasson’s tactical switch could be repeated at Luton

Luton are still seeking their first home win of the season ahead of Blackburn’s visit to Kenilworth Road on Saturday – and the wait might go on if Rovers can repeat their midweek display against Watford.

Jon Dahl Tomasson switched from 4-2-3-1 to match the Hornets’ 3-4-3 system and it worked a treat as Blackburn, with a couple of experienced defenders back to build a platform, ran out 2-0 winners at Ewood Park. The Dane will be tempted to keep faith with the same system and personnel against a side that also operate a three-defender system in the Hatters.

Luton boss Nathan Jones could not hide his rage at being denied a penalty for a blatant handball late in their 2-2 draw with Coventry – their third draw in five home games to date. The Sky Blues’ leveller was a world-class effort from range by Gustavo Hamer and was probably just as galling for Jones.

Morris a man in form

One positive to come out of the game for the hosts was the continued goalscoring form of Carlton Morris, who has hit five goals in his last five games – but they do seem almost totally reliant on the summer signing to score now.

These two sides appear closely matched at the moment and the draw must be a big runner again here – as it was last season when both matches between the two finished all square. Three of the last four head-to-head contests have been drawn and, although Rovers are yet to be involved in a stalemate this season – all five of Luton’s home games could easily have finished that way.

A 1-1 draw is forecast because Rovers have scored for goals in four away games this term, albeit three came at Swansea in early August when they were flying. Luton have kept just one home clean sheet, but have only failed to score in three of their 18 home league games in 2022.
