Lyon To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Lyon are one of the form sides in Europe and their Ligue 1 charge can continue with a comfortable home win over Nice. Les Gones each of their last 12 matches in all competitions, while even more impressively they have won 14 of their last 15 matches in all. A 3-2 home loss to PSG at the start of December was the last time Lyon tasted defeat on home soil and they have won three of their last four meetings with Nice, two without conceding. That record can be extended this weekend with Nice having won just one of their last four matches.

Lyon 2-0

Reason for tip

Nice beat Lyon 3-2 earlier this season, but prior to the Les Gones had dominated this fixture and they can exact their revenge with a 2-0 victory. Nice drew 0-0 with Monaco last time out but prior to that they shipped two goals in a victory over Montpellier and a draw with Brest, and they are likely to find Lyon too hot to handle on Sunday. The home side have scored two or more goals in nine of their last 11 fixtures on home soil and they can extend that sequence this week.

Lyon vs Nice Predictions

  • Lyon have won their last 12 matches in all competitions
  • Les Gones have won three of their last four meetings, two without conceding
  • Nice have kept one clean sheet in their last 19 outings

Lyon to extend stunning run

Not many side across Europe can boast a record as impressive as Lyon’s right now, and we predict another success for Les Gones who have their last 12 matches.

In fact, their last 15 outings have yielded 14 victories with only reigning champions PSG proving too strong in that run, and OL will be confident of maintaining their charge up the Ligue 1 standings.

Starting the weekend in third Lyon still have work to do to catch leaders PSG and Lens in second with the pair nine and seven points better off respectively, but a top three finish is well within reach and OL won’t want to fall back after such a stunning run.

And it is hard to see them slipping up this week, as they face a Nice side languishing in 14th, mainly due to a nine-match losing run from the start of November which saw them fall down the standings and lose their place in the Europa League.

They have steadied the ship somewhat with just two losses in their last ten outings, but keeping clean sheets has been a major issue and they are unlikely to hold in-form Lyon at bay for long.

One clean sheet in 19 outings suggest Nice could be vulnerable on Sunday, so backing Lyon to win 2-0 could pay off.

OL have scored two or more goals in nine of their last 11 fixtures on home soil and they can extend that sequence this week.
