Makeshift Citizens defence could still be tested

Manchester City have won the Carabao Cup seven times in the last 13 years and new manager Enzo Maresca would love to make his mark in the competition having taken the Etihad reins from the legendary Pep Guardiola.

The new boss is likely to give some of his second string an outing as they start their defence against Championship Norwich, but he will have been encouraged by the five straight victories they have mustered following a 3-0 capitulation to the Gunners in the Community Shield.

Norwich may not relish the trip to face a team who have beaten them 5-0 twice and 4-0 in their last three meetings, but they are capable of worrying the Man City defence which may be a little unsure if, as expected, Maresca decides to shuffle the pack.
