Hoffenheim have their work cut out

Hoffenheim’s season could go from bad to worse when the out-of-form Bundesliga side head to Herning to face FC Midtjylland in the Europa League on Wednesday evening.

The pressure is mounting on boss Pellegrino Matarazzo after his side’s meek capitulation at the hands of Union Berlin at the weekend with speculation mounting that German national team assistant Sando Wagner could soon replace the American.

Hoffenheim will aim to make their return to European action after a four-year absence a turning point in their campaign, but the hosts are rarely beaten at home and will have other ideas.

Franculino Dju could be due

Midtjylland claimed a 2-2 draw at Randers on Sunday with a late leveller after playing the final 25 minutes of the match with one man less than their hosts. Dario Osorio saw red for a silly reaction while Franculino Dju continued his fine form in front of goal with a fourth strike in five club games.

The Danes have a lot of attacking talent in their ranks with Polish striker Adam Buksa having bagged three times already this season and Czech international Jan Kuchta having plundered 17 league goals for Sparta Prague last season.

Back Midtjylland to take the points in what could be a free-flowing contest, albeit draw no bet is maybe the best way in because Bundesliga clubs are not often disgraced by teams from Denmark.
