This weekend MK Dons look to continue their impressive start to the campaign when they welcome a Northampton Town side who also suffered the drop last season, and with three points essential to any hopes of winning their spot back in the third tier, it promises to be an enthralling encounter.

MK Dons registered their third league win in succession last weekend with a 1-0 victory away at Cambridge United. The Dons appear to be finally finding their feet and they go into this Saturday’s clash on the back of a five game unbeaten streak and the result last weekend made it three wins on the bounce without conceding a goal. The Dons have been excellent at the back but their strike force is starting to look like an impressive outfit, with last weekend’s goals making it six goals without response.

Northampton Town secured their first win in eight league games last weekend as they came from behind to beat Forest Green Rovers 2-1. However, Town have managed just five points on the road this season and with just five goals scored on their travels, it is easy to see why. The Cobblers are yet to keep a clean sheet away from home and will have to go against the form book if they are able to reverse this trend this weekend.

The form book clearly suggests this fixture is going one way only, and we fully expect that the MK Dons will be able to secure another three points. However, Northampton Town have started to look like a much more solid side in recent weeks, so the win-draw-win market looks like one to be avoided. Instead, we think that backing the hosts to score over 1.5 goals is the way to go in this fixture.
