Tournament favourites Morocco face Mali in the second round of AFCON group matches. Morocco made the perfect start with a comfortable 2–0 victory over Comoros, while Mali were held to a 1–1 draw by Zambia , a match they should have won but for a late equaliser.

Morocco are on a generational run, having gone over a year without defeat, and will be keen to cement their status as Africa’s top side by lifting the trophy. They’ve been strong in attack, scoring twice in each of their last three matches, but now come up against a disciplined Mali defence that hasn’t conceded more than once in their last 18 games.
