Draw

Reason for tip

England have drawn their last four games and may have to settle for another nail-biter here. Four of their last eight meetings with the Netherlands have been stalemates and this is fancied to go to extra time.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Three of England’s last four matches have finished 1-1 and both teams are unlikely to throw caution to the wind so deep in the tournament, side with a 1-1 draw.

Harry Kane To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Harry Kane has 65 goals for England, their record goalscorer, and he looks a solid bet to land on the scoresheet. Despite the criticism he has received he has still netted twice and could be in the right place at the right time.

Netherlands vs England Predictions

  • England have drawn their last four games.
  • Three of those matches have finished 1-1 after 90 minutes.
  • Harry Kane has scored 65 times for England, the most of any player.

England still in despite failing to impress

England secured a dramatic passage to the semi-finals of Euro 2024 after getting the better of Switzerland on penalties.

That came after the Three Lions had gone 1-0 down to a Breel Embolo finish from close range.

Bukayo Saka netted a late equaliser but on the whole England’s performance was not a dramatic improvement upon their first four games.

They threatened little going forward for a team with the attacking quality at their disposal and Saka’s goal was their first shot on target in the 80th minute.

It remains to be seen if Gareth Southgate will stick with the three at the back system for this game with Marc Guehi set to return from suspension.

Southgate’s men have only beaten Serbia in 90 minutes at the tournament and will need to improve once more against a Netherlands side that have impressed after a poor group stage performance.

Dutch solid

The Dutch were 3-0 winners over Romania in the round of 16 before coming from 1-0 down to defeat a spirited Turkish outfit in the quarter-finals.

Cody Gakpo is leading the way in the tournament goalscoring charts with three and the Dutch have netted nine times in five games, four more than England.

They suffered a 3-2 defeat to Austria in the group stages that meant that they progressed as one of the third-placed teams but there is no shame in losing to what has been an impressive Austrian side and the Oranje have been solid apart from that.

They lifted this trophy in 1988 but this is their first time reaching the last four since 2004.

Four of the last eight meetings between these two have ended as a draw but the Netherlands won the last meeting 3-1, a Nations League clash in 2019.

Extra time beckons once more

Both of England’s knockout games in this competition have gone to extra time and it looks a solid pick to be the case once more against the Netherlands.

The Dutch are undoubtedly the best team they have faced thus far and the Three Lions have drawn their last four games.

Their inbuilt caution under Southgate means they are often happy not to take risks and they may settle for 30 more minutes if the game is level near the end of normal time.

Three of England’s last four outings have finished 90 minutes at 1-1 and this could well be another with the Three Lions unlikely to go all-out attack at this stage of the tournament. Correct score backers should side with a goal apiece.

Harry Kane has received plenty of criticism throughout this tournament but he has still netted two of England’s five goals and has 65 in his career for his country, the most of any player. Side with him to find the net.
