New York City vs FC Dallas Predictions

Poor start to new season by New York City

Things haven’t gone well for New York City in their opening two games of the 2020 season, with the side being defeated 1-0 by both Columbus Crew and Toronto FC. The side have had just six shots on target in those two games combined but this is their first home game of the season and, as a result, they should see more of the ball as a result.

The lack of shots on goal has been the biggest worry for New York City but head coach, Domènec Torrent, is likely to stick with the same side that lost to Toronto with the exception of Maxime Chanot. The defender may come back into the team following his suspension after he picked up a red card just three minutes into the new season against Columbus.

Dallas hit the road following two home games

This will be the first time Dallas play away from home this season after they’ve enjoyed two home games to get their 2020 season off to a good start. An opening day 2-0 win over Philadelphia Union was followed by a 2-2 draw with Montreal in a game that Dallas had to fight back from 2-0 down to claim the win.

Dallas have had 11 shots on target in those opening two games, dominating that area in both matches but they’ll need to offer a little more away from home if they hope to pick up all three points. Zdenek Ondrasek has started the season superbly, scoring two goals in two games, and Dallas will be hoping he can continue that form into this weekend.

Tight game on the cards

This match should be quite tight with New York City lacking a little confidence coming into the match with no points on the board as yet. But with Dallas playing on the road for the first time this season they could set up a little more defensively. The Texas side should have enough to claim something from this game though and we’re backing them on the double chance market.

We can’t see much between these two sides this weekend but Dallas will be hoping to continue their good start to the season. They are likely to take the game to New York City but neither team will want to give much away, something that could lead to a lack of goals. We’re predicting this one finishes in a stalemate with this sides sharing the points in a 1-1 draw.
