Nimes vs Amiens Predictions
Amiens went into the international break in pretty solid form as they have lost just one of their last five games. Their home defeat to Bordeaux has been the only blemish on a great run of games as they have beaten Marseille and Metz and drawn with Lyon and 2nd placed Angers in this time. Luka Elsner is an extremely inexperienced manager at this level but he has done very well at the club so far and they sit 11th as a result.
Amiens have been in great goalscoring form recently with a very impressive nine scored in their last five games. The same cannot be said for their defence as they have conceded eight times along the way but they won’t really be complaining due to them picking up crucial points. Amiens will be the visitors for this one but they have done alright on the road recently with a win and a good draw in their last two trips.
Nîmes are winless in their last three games so the international break probably came at a good time for the Crocodiles. Nîmes’ problem recently has been their lack of a clinical touch. They rank fifth for their chances created this season but are drawn third last for actual goals scored (8). A prime example of this came against Saint-Étienne as Nîmes dominated much of the game but eventually lost 1-0. They did well in their most recent game against Lille (2-2) but this was more to do with their opponents’ mishaps than their own quality.
Nîmes have also been pretty torrid at the back with them second for most chances conceded this season in Ligue 1. They have conceded 11 actual goals but the outstanding performances from Paul Bernardoni in goal have saved them on numerous occasions. Nîmes have won two of their last four home matches but the two wins were both against slightly weaker opposition than Amiens so we’re backing the Unicorns.
There is a nice buzz about Amiens at the moment with such good performances as of late and with them confident in front of goal we’re backing them to take home the win. Nîmes scored twice against last year’s runners-up just before the break and have been generally threatening despite the lack of goals so we’re expecting them to score in this match against an Amiens side with just one clean sheet this season. We’re backing this one to finish 2-1 to the visitors.
