Norway vs Bulgaria Predictions
The top two in group C3 of the Nations League clash on Tuesday night, with Bulgaria putting a perfect record to the test against Norway. These two are battling it out for a place in the play-offs for Euro 2020, and to earn promotion to the second tier. The side who tops the group will have a chance to get into the next major tournament, but if that’s to be Norway then they need a victory here. This is their big chance to claim a win and leapfrog Bulgaria, while a defeat all but guarantees the leaders will win the group.
Norway haven’t made any recent tournaments, but they have kicked off with some good form in the Nations League. Stepping into the second tier would be a clear sign of progress, while they’d face fellow group winners for a place at the next Euros. That’s the big prize on offer to teams at this level, who tend to miss out on major tournaments due to the way the qualifying campaigns are seeded. However, the hosts have hit form of late, and that put them up against Bulgaria in the race to win this group.
The visitors have a perfect record in this group, while they boast four straight wins going into this trip. Their 2-1 victory over Cyprus at the weekend kept them in contention for promotion, but they still have work to do at the half-way point. The away side have picked up all but one of those four wins at home, and they head out on the road here concerned about a difficult trip.
The hosts have won six of their last seven matches, and will be looking to extend that form on Tuesday. Their only defeat was a narrow 1-0 loss in Bulgaria last month, a result they’ll be desperate to avenge. Meanwhile, Bulgaria haven’t got the greatest away record backing them up as they make their way to Oslo. Six defeats in their last eight trips points to a home victory here, and we think that Norway will have enough to edge this encounter.
Norway have managed to win three of the last four meetings between these two, including victories home and away in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign. We’re backing the hosts to claim the points on Tuesday, while we see them securing a narrow 1-0 win after winning their last six at home, conceding just once in that time.
