Latics can exploit Canaries’ lack of cutting edge

There’s already some pressure on Norwich and Dean Smith after the title favourites lost their opening Championship game of the campaign to Cardiff. A visit from a Wigan Athletic side that are as honest as the day is long isn’t an ideal opportunity to kickstart their campaign.

The Latics had marginally the better of their 0-0 opening-round draw with Preston in what was a pretty encouraging start for Leam Richardson’s men. They might have created more in the final ten minutes had North End not gone down to ten men and stuck every available body behind the ball.

Opportunities to play on the counter-attack at Carrow Road should suit them and Norwich’s general lack of cutting edge prompts us to oppose the relegated hosts and recommend a double chance play on the promoted side.

Low-scoring affair likely

The Canaries have failed to score in their last three outings, two in pre-season and the dismal 1-0 defeat at Cardiff City Stadium last weekend that saw them create next to nothing. Cardiff didn’t create much either, but they scored and were able to successfully shut up shop.

This one, therefore, figures to be a low-scoring affair and the chances of a stalemate seem high. But Norwich could easily be caught napping if Wigan play it right and strike when the hosts inevitably take more risks in chasing the game. A 1-0 away win is worth snapping up in correct score prices before the oddsmakers understand the full extent of Norwich’s lack of creative spark.
