Palermo vs Sampdoria Predictions

Sampdoria saw their run of three straight victories brought to an end last weekend, as they fell to a disappointing draw at home to Cagliari. However, that means they’ve lost just one of their last six games in the league. Will the Blucerchiati be able to continue that impressive record on Sunday and stay in the top half of the table? They are facing one of the worst teams in the division, so it seems likely. While they’re away from home that could actually suit Samp here. That’s because Palermo have an awful record at their own ground, averaging 0.33 points per game at the Renzo Barbera this season. The Rosanero have lost 83% of their matches at home, claiming just a single victory here so far. That’s led to them having the worst home record in Serie A so far, which should fill Sampdoria with plenty of hope ahead of this trip. Judging by Palermo’s form, they should be able to claim at least a point.

However, Sampdoria haven’t got a great away record themselves. The Blucerchiati have managed just two away victories so far this season, losing 58% of their trips. They don’t have a great return on the road, picking up just nine points on their travels. That leaves the visitors with the 15th best away record, so maybe Palermo should be expecting to end their rotten form on Sunday morning.

While the visitors haven’t managed to recover that many points on the road, they’ve been pretty strong in front of goal. Samp have failed to score in just two of their trips this season, scoring in eight of their last nine outings. They’ve found the net in 80% of Serie A matches so far, and they should be able to trouble a Palermo team who have conceded in 92% of their home games. However, the Blucerchiati’s lack of points on their travels also points to a very poor defensive record.

Sampdoria have conceded in 83% of their away matches, letting in a goal in 11 of their last 12 on their travels. Meanwhile, Palermo have scored in every game since Diego Lopez took over as manager. He’s not had the easiest start, but he’s seen his side score against Juventus, Napoli and Atalanta already, who are all top five teams. That form should see them score against a poor Samp defence, so we’re backing both teams to score at 4/5 with bet365.
