Perth to get off to a glorious start to the A-League season

Last season was an undeniably poor showing from the joint record Australian title holders Perth Glory, as they flopped to a ninth placed finish after failing to win each of their last four games. However, I predict that they will open this campaign with a bang as they look to add even more goals to their healthy return of 13 across their last five home games.

Encouragingly, Perth won all three of their games against Adelaide by an aggregated score line of 9-5 since the appointment of Richard Garcia as manager. As a result, we can expect another end-to-end affair here.

Adelaide finished five points above Perth last season despite the fact that Perth completed a league double over them. However, only one side picked up more home points than Adelaide last season. Because of this, we can look at Adelaide’s rather woeful away league form. Emphasising the point is the fact that Carl Veart’s men picked up just 36% of their points away from home last season.

All things considered, I think a 2-1 home victory is the smart play – both sides often find the net and Adelaide are consistently poor travellers, in that respect, the form falls perfectly for my prediction.
