Plymouth Argyle vs Exeter City Predictions
Away form to hurt Exeter again
Plymouth look set to beat Exeter in a Devon derby at Home Park on Saturday. The visitors have been poor on the road this season, with just four wins in 21 away games, and Plymouth are in good form.
Plymouth are seventh in the league, 14 places and 16 points above Exeter, with 19 wins, five draws and 17 losses. The visitors are 21st with 12 wins, ten draws and 20 defeats from their 42 games this season.
Plymouth bounced back in style from last Friday’s defeat by Bolton to beat Barnsley 3-0, keeping up their recent winning trend. Owen Oseni struck twice, including the opener in the 16th minute, with Lorent Tolaj also notching. This was an excellent result for Plymouth, who were priced as 23/20 favourites to win the game and triumphed with something to spare. They restricted Barnsley to one shot on target.
The hosts are dangerous going forward this season, having scored in 22 of their last 23 league games. They have found the net at least twice in five of their last seven League One matches, and have averaged 1.70 goals a game in their 20 games against bottom-half teams this season.
The hosts are hitting their stride. Plymouth have won five of their last seven League One games and have enjoyed success in four of their last five home matches.
Exeter’s recent results do not inspire confidence. They are on a losing run of four straight League One away games and have failed to win nine of their last ten League One games.
The visitors lack killer instinct in front of goal, with Exeter unable to find the net in five of their last seven League One matches. They have lost their last two League One away games to nil.
The visitors have looked vulnerable at the back. Exeter have conceded on each of their last five League One away games.
A 2-0 win for Plymouth looks a decent correct-score option. There have been fewer than three goals in three of Exeter’s last four League One games and Plymouth have been at least two-goal winners in two of their last three.
