Plymouth vs York Predictions

Plymouth’s win over Morecambe on Friday allowed them to stay well in the race for an automatic promotion spot in League Two, and they are now behind 3rd placed Bristol Rovers on goal difference alone.

They aren’t alone in the chase for automatic promotion though, with Accrington Stanley just a point behind them and Portsmouth lingering five points adrift.

Their win on Friday came at just the right time though, and ended their four match winless streak to give them a much needed boost in confidence ahead of the final stages of the campaign. They will feel confident going into this home match against the out of form York as well.

The visitors managed a draw at home to Crawley on Friday, but they remain without a win in eight matches in League Two and have been on the losing side in six of these matches. Away from home it’s even worse. They have lost five on the bounce away from home nad haven’t won since the start of September. 14 of their 19 away matches since then have been losses for York.

Unsurprisingly, this puts them in danger of relegation. In fact, they look almost resigned to playing non-league football next season. They sit in 23rd position with a seven point deficit to make up over 23rd placed Stevenage, and have picked up just 28 points from 38 games so far this season.

Plymouth are the huge favourites to win this match, and that’s indicated in the odds. However, with York losing three of their last five away games by more than a single goal I think odds of 1.650 for a Plymouth -0.5, -1.0 Asian Handicap Win are very good value. I’m going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 11/2 as well.
