Port Vale vs Bristol City Predictions
- Both teams have scored in just two of Bristol City’s last eight games.
- Four of City’s five away Championship defeats have come against teams in the top six.
- Port Vale have won just four of their last 13 games at Vale Park.
Season of struggle for Vale
Port Vale would love to game some solace in the FA Cup in what has been a disappointing season, but their participation looks set to end at the fourth-round stage when they entertain Championship Bristol City on Saturday.
Vale are nine points adrift at the bottom of League One and 11 from safety, so it is difficult to put much faith in them, particularly against stronger opposition from the division above.
They have kept just two clean sheets in their last 11 games and while a win over Fleetwood in the last round has been one of the highlights of the campaign, they look up against it when they face the Robins.
City can prove their class
Bristol City have bigger priorities than a FA Cup run as they are in the thick of the Championship playoff chase and they bounced back well from a shock 5-0 home defeat against Derby by winning 3-2 a fellow top-six hunters Hull last week.
That was their sixth success on the road in the league this term and it is noticeable that four of their five away league defeats have come against fellow promotion chasers Ipswich, Millwall, Coventry and Wrexham.
They should not be expected to slip up against a team who have scored just 22 goals in 28 league games this season, so go for the Robins to claim a win without conceding, with a 2-0 away success of potential interest to correct-score betting enthusiasts.
