Portsmouth vs Lincoln City Predictions
- Portsmouth took 47 points from 23 home league games last season – a record only bettered by three League One teams.
- Pompey beat Lincoln City twice last campaign, scoring three goals in each contest.
- The Imps, meanwhile, are winless in their last five away league matches, losing four.
Pompey open with thrilling draw
Portsmouth may be frustrated by their failure to begin the League One season with a win at Sheffield Wednesday last time out, although twice coming from behind to lead the promotion favourites at one point demonstrated their own credentials, and a home clash with Lincoln City represents a good opportunity for Danny Cowley’s team to build on that decent result.
Portsmouth picked up 47 points from 23 home league games last term – a record only bettered by three League One outfits, and beat Lincoln home and away – netting six goals across those two meetings. Adding the likes of Michael Morrison, plus loanees Joe Pigott and Dane Scarlett, should boost their hopes of at least a play-off push, and they will fancy their chances of a first win of the season next time out.
Lincoln City began their campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Exeter City, and will be aiming for survival once more after finishing 17th last term. Mark Kennedy’s team went without victory in their final five away games last season, losing four, and look hard-pushed to get a result at Fratton Park.
Fratton Park win beckons for hosts
Given Portsmouth’s excellent home record last season and their superior attacking quality, backing them for a win over Cowley’s former club looks a terrific play for Saturday’s clash.
Meanwhile, a 2-0 win for Pompey could represent a decent correct score prediction after Lincoln managed just the 17th-best attacking record in League One last campaign.
