Portsmouth are the best bet to beat Sheffield Wednesday at home in the Championship on Saturday. The visitors are out of form coming into this game and could be heading for another defeat.

Sheffield Wednesday went down 3-0 to highflying Bristol City in a game that was effectively over by the break in their last Championship match. Wednesday were priced as 13/5 outsiders to win the game, but they didn’t manage to get a shot on target.

The visitors’ form is a major concern. Sheffield Wednesday have failed to win in seven of their last ten Championship games, suffering four defeats in the last five.

Their struggles in front of goal are a major concern. Sheffield Wednesday have failed to score in three of their last four Championship matches, a barren spell that has seen them lose three of those games.

Portsmouth are in better form than Sheffield Wednesday, having lost just one of their last ten matches in the Championship. In contrast, Wednesday have been beaten in their last two games and have failed to win any of their last six away matches.

The hosts’ defence has been watertight this season. No Championship team has shipped fewer goals than Portsmouth’s three in five games.

A 2-0 victory for Portsmouth looks the most likely outcome in the correct-score market. There have been under 2.5 goals in the hosts’ last three Championship matches, and while their last three wins have all come by a 1-0 scoreline, this should be more comfortable.
