Preston vs Blackburn Rovers Predictions
The bookies make Preston the clear favourites to win this game but Blackburn have been playing well in recent weeks and there is plenty of reason to think that they will get a result.
Rovers have taken 7 points from their last 3 Championship games and that includes a 1-0 win at St James’ Park in their most recent away game. It’s only 2 defeats in 8 overall and they look like a team capable of pulling themselves clear of the relegation scrap. Owen Coyle has got them better organised defensively now while Danny Graham and Sam Gallagher form a striker partnership that many sides in the bottom half of this league must look on with envy.
You could probably put Preston in that category. They come into this game on a bit of a sticky run of form having won just one of their last six games and that was against rock bottom Rotherham. Last weekend at Hillsborough they completely shot themselves in the foot in the closing stages by having Eoin Doyle and Jermaine Beckford sent off for fighting each other, which leaves them a bit short on attacking options here. For a side that has come so far in the last couple of years, in no small part down to the excellent team spirit which Simon Grayson has installed, it was a messy episode and one they’ll be keen to move on from.
Preston haven’t been that convincing at home this term. They’ve lost 40% of their matches at Deepdale and they won’t have this all their own way with Blackburn suddenly looking a much sharper outfit. Both sides are perhaps a bit short on creative quality to be anything better than a mid-table side at best and this could develop into a typical scrappy derby game.
Luckily for the visitors, they are displaying a really good work ethic now and look much more organised and with Preston not in great form, Rovers should get a result. Therefore, backing Double Chance – Blackburn or Draw at 7/10 could be the way to go here which the recent history of this fixture backs up.
