Rangers lead the Scottish Championship table after 2 games have been played, and that is the position they are aiming to keep for the remainder of the season.

They have won both of their opening games, with a 3-1 victory over the freshly relegated St Mirren and a 5-1 thrashing of Alloa Athletic giving them 6 points and a +6 goal difference.

Hibernian dropped 3 points on the opening day of the season when Dumbarton managed to secure an impressive 2-1 win. Hibernian were equally unconvincing in their second game, when they only managed a 1-0 victory over the recently promoted Morton.

This means that, should Rangers claim a crucial 3 points on Sunday, they would already hold a 6 point advantage over their main title rivals.

They already have a bit of a psychological advantage over their visitors as well, having already beaten them 6-2 away from home in the Scottish Challenge Cup at the end of July.

Rangers are looking like real title contenders this season, and without the dominant Hearts to get in their way I could see them lifting the trophy and making the long awaited return to the Scottish Premier League next season.

Hibernian are probably thinking that this game could make or break their season already. A win, and they will gain a huge confidence boost and start performing to their real ability. However, should they lose and they could fall into a downward spiral of poor form and see their title hopes slip away before they’d even begun.

I think that they will go on the defensive in this match, and would quite happily settle for a draw given the circumstances.

Whether they will get that draw or not, I’m not so sure. I think that Rangers have what it takes to break down their defence, and once they do that for the first time I expect them to bag a couple more.
