RB Leipzig vs Augsburg Predictions
- At least four goals have been scored in all of Augsburg’s games this season
- At least four goals have been scored in four of the last five meetings of the clubs
- Augsburg have avoided defeat by more than one goal in five of their last six league matches
- Lios Openda bagged twice against Bayer Leverkusen last month and scored 13 Bundesliga goals in the second half of last season
Red Bulls may lose focus ahead of Juventus clash
RB Leipzig appear to have a problem with their Bundesliga focus around Champions League matches and that could lead to another surprising result when they host struggling Augsburg this weekend.
Marco Rose’s men remain unbeaten in domestic action this season, but have followed up their two wins against Bochum and Bayer Leverkusen with two draws against Union Berlin and St Pauli.
Both of those goalless games were ones they should have won on paper, but the fixtures fell either side of a glamorous European trip to Atletico Madrid. Only the Leipzig players, many of them still young, will know if they didn’t do themselves justice in those two games, but a lack of focus will be something Rose needs to guard against this weekend when the Redd Bulls host Augsburg a few days ahead of a home clash against Juventus.
Augsburg can contribute to high-scoring affair
Their Bavarian opponents have been in mixed form, losing 4-0 at Heidenheim before claiming a 3-1 home win over the same St Pauli side that made Leipzig struggle.
Goals tend to be on the menu when these clubs face off with at least four goals scored in four of the last five meetings, so that could be a way in here – particularly as over 3.5 goals have been scored in all five of Augsburg’s competitive games this term.
The only concern about that is the two 0-0 draws Leipzig have just recorded in the Bundesliga, but with a strikeforce of Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko it is well worth taking a chance that they will break their goal drought.
