Milan can bolster title aspirations

This is a crunch clash at the top of Serie A with second-placed Milan starting the weekend three points behind fierce rivals Inter but four points clear of Roma in fourth.

Milan have lost only one of their opening 21 league games but too many draws – they have shared the spoils seven times – have allowed Inter to seize the initiative.

Roma excel at home, where they have won seven of their ten Serie A assignments, but Inter and Napoli have both reigned supreme at the Stadio Olimpico and Milan may be able to repeat the trick.

The Rossoneri are benefitting from having no European commitments and they were impressive 3-1 winners in their last away game at Como, who are sixth and enjoying a fine season.

Roma may have met their match

Roma, meanwhile, are in the Europa League so they were in action in a 2-0 victory over Stuttgart on Thursday, something which may mean they are less prepared than their visitors.

Milan won two of the three meetings between the pair in 2025 and, having triumphed in four of their last seven away games, they look the most likely victors.

Both teams are dominant defensively, so under 2.5 goals is expected to land for a sixth time in Milan’s last eight outings.

A slender 1-0 win for the visitors appeals, which was the scoreline the last time they met Roma and has been the margin of victory in two of their last three league games.
