Atalanta can end Sassuolo’s streak

Atalanta can bring Sassuolo’s two-game winning run to an end when they visit the MAPEI Stadium on Sunday. The hosts have been poor at home, where they have won five, drawn two and lost six this season, while Atalanta have won four of their 12 away games.

Atalanta are two places above Sassuolo in the table, but there is a ten-point gap between the two sides. Atalanta, who are seventh with 12 wins, nine draws and five defeats, have a clear advantage over ninth-placed Sassuolo, who have won ten, drawn five and lost 11.

Atalanta maintained their winning habit last weekend, fighting back from a goal down at half time to beat high-flying Napoli 2-1 in their last Serie A game. Mario Pasalic and Lazar Samardzic hit the back of the net for Atalanta, who edged to victory to the delight of those who backed them at 7/5.

Atalanta have momentum on their side. They have not lost in nine Serie A games, winning seven of those matches, including their last three.

They have been prolific in front of goal, scoring at least twice in six of their last eight Serie A games. They have netted at least twice in each of the last three matches.

Sassuolo are having defensive problems, having failed to keep a clean sheet in 16 of their last 19 Serie A games. They have conceded 19 goals at home this season, an average of 1.46 goals per game from 13 matches.

Sassuolo’s last four Serie A matches have had three or more goals, and with Atalanta securing three 2-1 wins in the league so far, a 2-1 away win for Atalanta looks a decent correct-score bet.
