Sassuolo Backed to Sink Struggling Genoa

Sassuolo should be backed to beat an out-of-form Genoa at home in Monday’s Serie A clash. The visitors are yet to win away this season – they have drawn one and lost three on the road.

They are ten places and ten points above Genoa in the table, with the visitors bottom of the league. After nine games this season, Genoa have six defeats and three draws, while Sassuolo sit tenth with four wins, one draw and four losses.

Genoa lost 2-0 to Cremonese on Wednesday, in what was Cremonese’s first win in six Serie A games. This was a bad result for Genoa, who had been priced as 17/20 favourites to win, and means they have failed to win either of the two games in which they have been odds-on this season.

Backing Genoa’s opponents during their current run of six defeats in eight Serie A games would have resulted in a profit of 6.38 units.

The visitors need to turn things around. Genoa have lost six of their last eight Serie A games and have failed to win any of their last four away matches.

The visitors have been vulnerable defensively of late. Genoa have conceded on each of their last seven Serie A away games and have yet to keep a clean sheet on the road this season. They are averaging 1.75 goals against per game from their four away games so far.

With Serie A averaging 2.3 goals a game this season, a 2-0 home win for Sassuolo looks the best correct-score bet. Genoa lost 2-0 to Cremonese in their last league game and they could be heading for another defeat here.
