Sassuolo vs Verona Predictions

Gialloblu in trouble

While Verona gave a decent account of themselves in last week’s 2-1 defeat to AC Milan, the Gialloblu remain mired in Serie A’s bottom three after losing a fifth successive league game. Salvatore Bocchetti faces a mammoth task to turn around Verona’s season in what represents his first senior management role, and things are unlikely to get much easier at Sassuolo on Monday.

Verona’s run of five consecutive defeats has seen them face tough opponents in Milan, Udinese and Lazio, but their defensive paucity is a real concern after 10 matches of the campaign. The Gialloblu have shipped 19 goals this season – more than all but Cremonese in Serie A, and have conceded twice in each of their five successive losses. There are more reasons for Bocchetti to worry on the road, where Verona are yet to win and have scored just three goals in five league games this term.

Sassuolo, meanwhile, approach this match having lost back-to-back games, but Alessio Dionisi’s men did not disgrace themselves in narrow 2-1 defeats to two of the division’s big names in Inter Milan and Atalanta. Indeed, the Neroverdi have only lost three of their last nine league games, with each reverse coming a current top-eight side. Sassuolo will have their own ambitions of reaching those spots, and their search for consistency could end against desirable opponents next time out.

Neroverdi worth backing

Sassuolo have scored seven goals across their last three home league games, and the visit of Verona – one of Italy’s most out-of-form outfits – represents an opportunity for them to do more damage.
