SC Farense vs Maritimo Predictions

Maritimo can ease away from the drop

Monday’s action from the Portuguese top-flight sees relegation rivals Farense and Maritimo do battle, and it is the visitors who may be able to claim a precious three points.

Farense are rooted to the bottom of the Primeira Liga table with only five points from their first eight games and although they won their last home game against Boavista, there has also been considerable promise in the recent performances of Maritimo.

José Manuel Gomes’ side have collected just one point from their last five league games but each of their four defeats were by a 2-1 margin, which included meetings with title-chasing Benfica.

They held sixth-placed Nacional to a goalless draw during that period and also have a surprise 3-2 win at champions Porto on their copybook.

There have been some poor performances from Maritimo, too, this season but this is their easiest assignment for sometime and it is worth remembering they finished 11th last season.

Farense’s four home league games have featured 12 goals this season and both of their defeats on their own patch were by a single goal, so we predict a 2-1 win for Maritimo.

Both teams have scored in six of Martimo’s last seven league games and five of those matches finished 2-1.
