Serbia vs Switzerland Predictions
- Serbia have lost two of their last 20 competitive matches
- Switzerland didn’t record a shot on target in their last Group G game against Brazil
- Aleksandar Mitrovic has scored seven times in Serbia’s last seven competitive matches
Serbia fancied to record much-needed victory
Serbia were seen by many as a potential dark-horse at the 2022 World Cup but find themselves sitting bottom of Group G having taken one point from their first two matches. Dragan Stojkovic’s side are now in must-win territory and that could well bring the best out of his hugely talented squad. Serbia’s squad is littered with players who play in some of the top competitions in European football and they will be playing with a chip on their shoulders having blown a two-goal lead in their last game against Cameroon. Serbia have lost two of their last 20 competitive matches and are fancied to record the win they need to secure a place in the Last 16.
Switzerland have failed to impress in Qatar
Switzerland currently sit second in Group G and have their destiny in their own hands heading into their final group game. Despite sitting pretty in Group G, Switzerland have been largely underwhelming in Qatar. Murat Yakin’s side failed to impress in their group opener against Cameroon and were lucky to record a 1-0 victory after Cameroon spurned a few guilt-edge chances in the first half. Switzerland didn’t muster a shot on target against Brazil and now face a Serbia team who know nothing less than a victory will see them bow out of the competition.
Mitrovic can fire Serbia into Last 16
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored his first goal of the tournament in Serbia’s 3-3 draw against Cameroon and the Fulham striker could be the man to fire his nation into the Last 16. Mitrovic has scored seven times in Serbia’s last seven competitive matches and was the top scorer in Serbia’s qualifying group, scoring eight times their eight group matches. The 28-year old has two World Cup goals to his name and is currently 7/4 to add to that tally on Friday, against Switzerland.
Serbia to win in the outright market will be the main selection for Friday’s game, with a 2-1 score line forming the correct score prediction. Punters looking for an anytime scorer bet are pointed in the direction of Aleksandar Mitrovic – the Fulham forward has scored seven times in Serbia’s last seven competitive matches.
