Shakhter Soligorsk saw their hopes of lifting the Belarus Cup dashed in midweek as they lost to Dinamo Brest on away goals, despite their thrilling comeback win in the second leg. They went 4-0 down on aggregate after two first half goals from Dinamo Brest before scoring four without reply in 16 second half minutes, but they were unable to make the final push to the final.

This is just the latest in a growing string of disappointments for Shakhter, who find themselves 11th in the Belarus Premier League table and with just two wins from their six league games so far.

Last season’s bronze medallists have finished in the top three in each of the last 10 seasons, but based on their current form they could well see that streak come to an end in 2020.

Isloch pick up where they left off last season

Isloch could be the team to break into the top three though. The visitors – founded in 2007 – achieved their best ever finish last season as they came 5th in the Belarus Premier League. Now they find themselves up in 2nd place after winning four of their opening six games.

Shakhter are really struggling at home too, picking up just one point from a possible nine this season and only finding the net once.
