      Draw

      Reason for tip

The last meeting in May between these two finished level and neither club comes into this game in good form. Celta had the second-worst home form last season, despite finishing sixth, while Bilbao only won four times on the road last year.

      Draw 1-1

      Reason for tip

Celta Vigo’s 2-1 defeat to Osasuna was a worry, with the latter only just avoiding relegation last year. Both teams have scored in six of the last seven meetings between the two clubs.

Celta Vigo vs Athletic Bilbao Predictions

      • Celta Vigo and Athletic Bilbao have yet to win this season in LaLiga
      • Celta had the second-worst home record in LaLiga last season
      • Bilbao only won four away games last season

Stalemate on the cards at Balaidos

Celta Vigo finished sixth in LaLiga last season to secure European football, but their slow start to the campaign should continue when they welcome Athletic Bilbao to Balaidos on Sunday.

Celta coach Claudio Giraldez saw his side draw 0-0 with Valencia in week one, but their 2-1 defeat to Osasuna at home was a real setback.

Osasuna only avoided relegation last season on goal difference, so that result is a sign the hosts are still nowhere near their best.

Celta’s home record also needs to improve, with the hosts winning just six of their 19 games in front of their own fans last season.

Bilbao are also desperately low on confidence after five consecutive defeats, including friendlies, but two losses to Sevilla and Barcelona are hardly cause for panic.

Bilbao are still adjusting to life under new manager Edin Terzic, but a trip to a Celta side that struggles to shine at home could be just what they need.

The visitors are unbeaten in six of their last ten against Celta Vigo and with both teams low on confidence, a score draw would not be the end of the world.
