Blades can claim a high-scoring win

There should be plenty of goals in the Steel City derby between Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday at Bramall Lane on Sunday. It’s five Championship games since United last failed to find the net, and backing over 3.5 goals looks the best bet.

Sheffield United are 15th in the Championship, nine places above rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday, with a 49-point gap between the two teams. United have won 13 of their 32 games this season, while Wednesday have just one victory.

Sheffield United have won six of their last eight Championship home games, but Wednesday have gone 26 games without winning and are in a difficult time, having lost 15 of their last 18 matches.

There have been four goals or more in six of Sheffield United’s 15 Championship home games this season, and 12 of their 32 matches overall have gone over 3.5 goals.

Both teams are struggling defensively. Only four teams have conceded more goals than Sheffield United’s 45 this season, while no side has shipped more than Wednesday’s 64. The visitors have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last nine away games.

Sheffield United have been winners in six of their last eight Championship home games and a 3-1 win for them is an appealing correct-score bet. Four of Sheffield United’s 13 wins this season have been by a two-goal margin, and Wednesday have lost by two goals on five occasions.
