Sheffield Wednesday vs Ipswich Predictions

This is very much last chance saloon for Ipswich it would seem in terms of their faltering play-off aspirations. They have gone 4 matches without a win and have fallen 8 points behind Sheffield Wednesday in the 6th and final play-off place. Even a win would leave the Tractor Boys needing a few favours from elsewhere but it would give them a glimmer of hope. They’ve been struggling for goals of late scoring just 1 goal in those 4 games and weren’t great at the other end either last time out as they sank to a 3-1 home defeat against Brentford.

Sheffield Wednesday also come into this one after a horror-show of their own. They were 4-0 down inside an hour at Bristol City last weekend, giving away 2 penalties and scoring an own goal in a messy all-round display. It was unexpected given they’d won all of their previous 4 league matches to assume pole position in the race for the play-offs. They hold a 5 point lead on Cardiff in 7th but the two sides still have to meet and the Owls would dearly love another 3 points here to put last week behind them.

The way Ipswich have been playing of late you have to fancy them to get it too. The Suffolk side have won just 1 of their 9 away games so far in 2016, losing 5 of them. The Owls have been excellent at home this season and have lost just 1 of their last 19 matches on home soil. They’ve won their last two at Hillsborough against Charlton and Blackburn and following a week to work on what went wrong in the West Country, they should deliver the goods here and you can back Sheffield Wednesday to win at 5/6.
