Rodez Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Saint-Etienne have failed to win any of their last three matches while Rodez have avoided defeat in six of their last seven away league games. Les Verts have also failed to win any of their last five matches against Rodez, including a 1-1 draw at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard only a fortnight ago.

Rodez 2-1

Reason for tip

Les Verts recently lost 2-1 to a Quevily-Rouen side that finished 18th in the table and look worth opposing here.  There have been signs that Olivier Dall’Oglio’s squad have been getting tired in the amount of late goals they have conceded recently. Rodez have less recovery time but their younger legs should see them through with a 2-1 win on the road.

Ride Rodez to victory in the play-offs

Rodez could prove too tough for Saint-Etienne to overcome in 90 minutes of Friday’s Ligue 2 Play-off final at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Les Sangs et Or came through a tense play-off semi-final against 10-man Paris FC on Tuesday on penalties and will face a quick turnaround for their trip to Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

But Rodez are the youngest team in Ligue 2 this season and it should not take much recovery time for them to be back to their best.

Goals from captain Bradley Danger and star striker Killian Corredor, plus some smart saves from teenage goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen saw them edge past Paris FC in a shootout following a 2-2 draw.

Les Verts have been off colour of late

They will now return to the scene of a 1-1 league draw earlier this month that is one of three straight games that Saint-Etienne have failed to win.

Les Verts look uneasy favourites in the betting during this sticky patch, which includes a 2-1 defeat to a Quevily-Rouen side that finished 18th in the table.

Olivier Dall’Oglio made a handful of changes for that match, but the spine of his first team was kept in place and there have been signs that the squad is getting tired in the amount of late goals they have conceded recently.
