      Celtic to Win

      Reason for tip

Celtic have won 13 and drawn two of their last 15 meetings with St Mirren and can bounce back from successive defeats to claim the first trophy of the season against a side that have lost three of their last five.

      Celtic 2-1

      Reason for tip

Celtic should claim the trophy inside 90 minutes against a St Mirren side that have lost 13 of their last 15 meetings with the Bhoys, but Celtic have only kept one clean sheet in their last five games and may concede to St Mirren, who have scored in their last three outings.

      • Celtic have won 13 and drawn two of their last 15 meetings with St Mirren.
      • Celtic have only kept one clean sheet in their last five matches.

The Buddies can make it hard for struggling Bhoys

Celtic round off the biggest week of their season so far by taking on St Mirren in the League Cup final at Hampden Park.

And having twice been taken to the limit by the Buddies this season, new ‘Tics boss Wilfried Nancy has every right to be nervous ahead of the first showpiece of the Scottish season.

Nancy stepped aboard at the weekend, replacing Martin O’Neill just in time to suffer a crunch 2-1 home loss to Hearts in the William Hill Premiership with a Europa League showdown with Roma to follow.

St Mirren, meanwhile, will have had a free week to prepare for their biggest match for over a decade and will be up for this clash.

The two league showdowns between the teams produced a pair of 1-0 Celtic wins, games the Glasgow giants dominated but in which St Mirren defended well and had chances themselves.

Celtic are going to be strong favourites to successfully defend the trophy but Steve Robinson’s underdogs can push them.
