Hatters too strong going forward

Barring a shock 5-2 defeat at the hands of Mansfield, Luton have had a solid start to the season and should be able to pick up a third league victory when they make the short journey to Stevenage on Thursday.

The Hatters were held to a 1-1 draw by Leyton Orient at the weekend despite winning the shot count 23-7 and their attacking prowess could see them beat a Stevenage side who have only won one of their last six games in all competitions. 

The hosts did beat Barnsley 5-1 at the weekend but in the context of their season thus far that looks more like a shock result than their previous run of three draws and two losses.

Luton were 2-1 winners when these sides met in January and if they can tighten things up at the back, they should be too strong going forward for these opponents. Only Sheffield Wednesday and Stockport have scored more than the Hatters’ total of 11 goals from their five matches. 

Both of these teams have been leaky at the back so a high-scoring affair looks likely. Luton’s five league games have produced 22 goals so a 2-1 win for the visitors is fancied for correct score purposes.
