Stoke City 2-1

Reason for tip

Stoke, having won four of their last six home league games, are fancied to prevail given Hull’s dip in form. However, the Tigers have scored in their last eight away games, losing four of those fixtures which includes 2-1 losses at Watford and Derby.

Stoke City vs Hull City Predictions

  • Second-placed Stoke have won four of their last six at home
  • Hull have lost three of their last four league games
  • Both teams have scored in 11 of Hull’s last 14 matches

Potters primed to tame the Tigers

Three defeats in four Championship outings has seen Hull lose ground on the playoff protagonists after a strong start to the season and they may be set for more misery at highflying Stoke.

The Tigers have lost on their last two away trips to Derby and QPR and that spells trouble ahead of a visit to the bet365 Stadium, where Stoke have claimed maximum points in four of their last six Championship matches.

The Potters cruised past visiting Charlton 3-0 at home on Tuesday, enabling them to move up to second and leaving them as the nearest pursuers to runaway leaders Coventry.

Mark Robins’s side boast the meanest defence in the division, having conceded just 12 goals in 17 league games, and they should be able to punish a Hull outfit that are proving very leaky defensively.

The visitors have conceded 29 goals in 17 games – only rock-bottom Sheffield Wednesday have been breached more regularly – and that doesn’t bode well given that Stoke have scored at least three goals in three of their last five league fixtures.

So Stoke can win and win well, although both teams have scored in 11 of Hull’s last 14 games and they will feel they can get on the scoresheet.

The Tigers have scored in their last eight away games, although they have lost four of those fixtures which includes 2-1 losses at Watford and Derby.
