Strasbourg to Win and Under 4.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Strasbourg are sitting pretty at the top of the Conference League league phase and the eight-point gap between themselves and Breidablik suggests that even if Liam Rosenior opts to rotate with his side’s last-16 spot secured, they should finish with a win. They are not the most prolific side, though, so stick with a low-scoring victory.

      Strasbourg 3-0

      Reason for tip

Strasbourg have scored just four goals across their last six games and are unlikely to completely blow Breidablik away. However, the Icelandic visitors don’t exactly carry much of a threat themselves. Breidablik are yet to score an away goal in the Conference League and that is unlikely to change, with Strasbourg keeping a clean sheet in each of their last two games in all competitions.

      Strasbourg vs Breidablik Predictions

      • Strasbourg are top of the league phase on 13 points
      • Breidablik are 27th, two points off the playoff places
      • The hosts are unbeaten after five Conference League matches

Strasbourg set to secure top spot

It is becoming clearer and clearer where Strasbourg’s priorities lie. They slipped to seventh in Ligue 1 following Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Lorient but manager Liam Rosenior will not be too worried about that, as his side are flying in their first European campaign for 20 years.

Strasbourg are sitting pretty at the top of the Conference League league phase and head into the final round of fixtures as the only side guaranteed of a spot in the last 16.

That is good news for their final league-phase opponents Breidablik, who will be hoping their hosts rotate as they need to win to have any chance of extending their stay in the competition.

Breidablik bound for a league-phase exit

The issue is, however, that even a full-strength Breidablik lack the quality of a second-string Strasbourg, who should be able to secure three points and top spot regardless of Rosenior’s rotation.

The Icelandic visitors have scored just five Conference League goals, and none in their two away league-phase games, and another loss is imminent.

That said, they have a lot more to play for than their hosts. Strasbourg are unlikely to be going full-tilt and eight league-phase goals suggests that even when they are, net-bulging action is not their speciality.

The hosts should win, but it is unlikely to be a thriller.
