Union Berlin Draw No Bet

Reason for tip

Union Berlin have lost just once all season in league action and enter this clash with extra confidence after overcoming Malmo with just ten men on the field in their midweek European action.

Union Berlin 2-0

Reason for tip

None of Union’s last six games in any competition produced over 2.5 goals, suggesting that any winning scoreline could be a low-scoring one.

Stuttgart vs Union Berlin Predictions

  • Stuttgart are without a league win after eight rounds this season.
  • Union Berlin are unbeaten in 14 of their last 15 league games.
  • Union have never lost a Bundesliga away game in Stuttgart.

Time’s running out for Pellegrino Matarazzo

After scoring early but going on to lose 3-2 against Wolfsburg last time out, the Stuttgart sporting director gave American head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo the dreaded vote of confidence. Reports are surfacing that they’re already considering his replacement, so this could be a case of win or bust for Stuttgart.

This pressure hasn’t built up overnight, it’s been a slow build up of winless games that is now the five-time German champions’ longest start to a Bundesliga campaign without victory.

The hosts were always expected to be up against it this season after surviving by a hare’s breadth last season and losing key players in the summer, but they’d have at least expected a win by now. That’s not an ideal run of form to enter a clash against the pace setting Union Berlin with.

Going against the grain

The bookmakers make Union outsiders here, and perhaps that is for good reason given that it’s their third consecutive away game and with thousands of km travelled in just over a week, tired legs may be beginning to show.

Even so, Union showed their character when winning away to Malmo despite having players missing through COVID and a sending off in the game. That result will surely boost their confidence of bouncing back from their latest defeat that ended a club-record run of 14 consecutive unbeaten Bundesliga games.

We’re taking a chance on Union in the draw no bet market, all of the Bundesliga H2Hs at this venue ended level so having an insurance policy in place could be key. However, we’re sticking with the visitors to win with a workmanlike 2-0 scoreline for small stakes in the correct score market.
