Sunderland vs Nottingham Forest Predictions
- Sunderland have three defeats in their last four home games
- Forest are on a seven-game unbeaten run across all competitions
- Both teams have scored in three of Forest’s last four games
Forest looking to pull clear
Sunderland sit comfortably in mid-table and still have a chance to qualify for Europe this season ahead of the visit of relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest on Friday.
The Black Cats had an unbeaten home record in the league not too long ago as they won seven of their opening 12 games, drawing the other five, but they’ve since suffered three defeats in their last four games.
Forest have managed to put a bit oif distance between themselves and the bottom three thanks to a four-game unbeaten run in the league, while they’re unbeaten in seven across all competitions. The visitors still have some work to do to avoid the drop, however, and as the team in the far greater need of the points on Friday they look good value to come away with the points.
A lack of fight has been an issue at times for Forest this season but they showed some heart to recover from falling behind at the weekend to hammer Burnley 4-1.
Forest have impressed on their travels lately and they’re unbeaten in four away from home across all competitions. That run has included a draw at title chasers Man City, a resounding 3-0 win at direct rivals Spurs and a draw in Europe at Porto, and they look capable of claiming what could be a crucial three points at the Stadium of Light.
Goals and both ends and a Gibbs-White effort
A 2-1 win for Forest is the correct score prediction as Sunderland should at least be able to get on the scoresheet. The Black Cats have scored 23 goals across their 16 home games and Forest have conceded in seven of their last nine Premier League trips so goals at both ends looks likely.
Morgan Gibbs-White hit a hat-trick in Forest’s win over Burnley and he can follow that up with at least one goal on Wearside. The 26-year-old now has six goals in his last six league games and has scored eight goals in total across his last 12 starts in all competitions.
