Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Switzerland have conceded in three of their last four home games while Israel have shipped at least one goal in their last 16 internationals. Both teams have scored in five of Israel’s last six away games too.

Switzerland 2-1

Reason for tip

Switzerland have won five of their last eight home games and should come through against an Israel team that have been given problems by Cyprus, Zambia and Malta in recent friendles. They did draw at home to Kosovo, who also recently drew at Switzerland, so this might be closer than many think, hence the 2-1 score prediction.

Swiss slated for home win, but Israel can score

Switzerland will be expected to roll over Israel on Tuesday in the wake of both nations’ opening Euro 2024 qualifying results, but it won’t be that straightforward. The hosts, who brushed Belarus aside with a 5-0 win in a game switched to Serbia, are priced up as if anything other than victory would be a huge shock.

Murat Yakin’s men have been solid at home in terms of their recent results, winning five of their last eight on Swiss soil and only failing against the likes of Spain, Kosovo and Italy. And while they should oblige at around 2/5 generally, the rewards are greater in backing both teams to score.

Both teams have scored in Israel’s last nine games and the Blues and Whites have conceded a goal in each of their last 16 matches. They have one of the Premier League’s most in-form scorers in their likely line-up with Fulham’s Manor Solomon setting up their equaliser at home to Kosovo on Saturday.

Yakin’s side could have been behind to Belarus

The Swiss have shipped goals in three of their last four home games and could easily have fallen behind to Belarus in the first few minutes of their 5-0 romp, only for Vladimir Khvashchinsky to send his shot against the crossbar.

There is also a potential for the Swiss to underestimate Israel here and get themselves in a pickle, which is why we are shunning the small increase in price in backing them to win with both teams on the scoresheet and just backing BTTS.

A 2-1 home win remains the favoured correct score play as Israel have conceded at least two goals in four of their last six contests, of which most were against teams ranked well below Switzerland’s spot at 12th in the world. Yakin’s men have a good home record where they rarely concede more than once.
