Ferencvarosi TC to Win and Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

TNS have given themselves too much work to do after losing the first leg 5-0 and, while they could restrict the visitors to a lower scoreline, they are unlikely to trouble the Ferencvaros backline.

Ferencvarosi TC 2-0

Reason for tip

The visitors are unlikely to name as strong of a side for the second leg and so may not be as deadly in front of goal as they were in the previous leg. They have scored at least twice in four of their last five including friendlies and so a 2-0 final score provides some appeal.

TNS vs Ferencvarosi TC Predictions

  • The New Saints have never qualified for the group stages of a European competition
  • Ferencvaros featured in the Europa Conference League last season
  • The Hungarians hold a 5-0 advantage from the first leg

Saints to tamely exit Europe in home defeat

A dominant performance in their home first leg saw Ferencvaros put five past The New Saints in Hungary without reply and this should leave the Welsh side with two steep of a mountain to climb when they meet for the second leg at Park Hall.

The home side played no less than eight warm-up friendlies in preparation for their warm-up campaign – seeing off Montenegrin outfit Decic in the previous round – but they largely struggled when facing sides in higher calibre divisions, losing to Irish Premier side Bohemians as well as Kilmarnock of the Scottish Premiership.

Ferencvaros impressed in their final friendly before the first leg with TNS – holding West Ham to a 2-2 draw – and they essentially put the tie to bed in the first half as goals from Kristoffer Zachariassen and a brace from Adama Traore, who completed is hat-trick in the second half, say the Hungarians go into the break 3-0 up.

The visitors will feel like the job is already done and may name a heavily changed side for the second leg which could level the playing field somewhat. However, they should still have more than enough quality to win and a 2-0 final score looks a tempting proposition.
