Hosts on a high after unbeaten start

Tottenham Hotspur return to the Champions League for the first time since the 2019/20 season and Antonio Conte’s side arrive on the continent full of confidence after an excellent start to the campaign.

Their deserved 2-1 win over Fulham at the weekend made it four wins and two draws from their six outings so far, with Harry Kane’s winner taking him to five goals for the season, a tally only surpassed by Erling Haaland and Ivan Toney.

Marseille flying high

Marseille boast a similarly impressive record this season, winning five of their six Ligue 1 matches and losing none.

Bettered only by PSG in France last season, Les Olympiens return to the Champions League a much better side than the one that last five of their six group games in 2020/21 and could pose a serious threat to Spurs’ back line here.

Goals at both ends expected in north London

Igor Tudor’s side are level on points with PSG and have scored 13 goals in six matches so far. With Tottenham conceding in four of their six outings but also scoring in all of their fixtures so far, backing both teams to score is an appealing option.

After six successive wins at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, I do expect the hosts to prevail here and a repeat of Saturday’s 2-1 scoreline looks good value for money.

Harry Kane cannot be ignored as an anytime goalscorer pick, either. The England captain has scored in four of his last five appearances and netted six goals in five appearances during his last Champions League campaign.
